I just realized, you could have borders on it too if you wanted:

Blah blah blah yak yak etc.

<SPAN STYLE="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00; FONT-VARIANT: small-caps; BORDER: 1px solid black; PADDING: 3px"> ... </SPAN> Tweak the numbers next to the px's to change the thickness of the border and the space inside the box.

Y-Yes, screwing around with code like this is fun for me. I should be posting this on a geekier character.
